Functional Capacity Assessment Southern River

Our therapists will comprehensively assess individuals’ functional abilities to determine their strengths and limitations. This assessment will inform the development of an individualized treatment plan. It will also assist with the plan review of individuals for NDIS and assess the participant’s level of needs for NDIS.

A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive evaluation that assesses an individual’s physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to perform specific tasks or activities. The assessment is used to determine a person’s functional limitations and capabilities.

The process of conducting a Functional Capacity Assessment typically involves the following steps:

  1. Referral: Referral for Functional Capacity Assessment will be made to Wellbeing Services Australia.
  1. Evaluation: The Occupational Therapist will conduct the assessment. They will gather information through interviews, medical records review, and direct observation of the individual’s abilities and limitations.
  1. Assessment Tools: The Occupational Therapist may use standardized assessment tools, such as physical performance tests, cognitive tests, or questionnaires, to gather objective data about the individual’s functional abilities.
  1. Task Analysis: The Occupational Therapist will identify specific job tasks or activities relevant to the individual’s situation. They assess the individual’s ability to perform these tasks, considering strength, endurance, coordination, problem-solving skills, and emotional well-being.
  1. Functional Limitations and Recommendations: Based on the assessment findings, the Occupational Therapist will determine the individual’s functional limitations, which are the specific tasks or activities they may have difficulty performing. They may also recommend accommodations, modifications, or rehabilitation interventions to improve the individual’s functional abilities.
  1. Report Writing: The Occupational Therapist will document the assessment findings, including the individual’s functional limitations, capabilities, and recommendations, in a written report. This report is typically shared with the referring healthcare professional, employer, or other relevant parties.
